St John Paul II Awards

We participate in the St John Paul II Awards scheme every year. Currently (2017) we have four young people who meet with their leaders for one hour each Monday at 4.15 to explore the lives of the Saints.

The programme “Dead Theologians’ Society” contributes to the JPII awards which are presented each Autumn by Bishop Kevin.

Ideally for Transition Year students you may contact the school liaison person or the Parish Office if interested.

Youth 2000

Youth 2000 is a Catholic group for young people aged from 17 to 35. They meet in St Anne’s Day Chapel each Thursday from October to May at 8.00 p.m. with a priest chaplain for prayer and fellowship. New members always most welcome.

I Thirst

I Thirst is a group inspired by Mother Teresa for young adults and they meet in St Bernadette’s Chapel, Rockwood Parade in Sligo most Thursdays at 6.30 p.m.

They also meet regularly in St Anne’s. New members welcome.  Outreach includes ‘night fever’ street outreach and prison visitation.

Youth

St Anne’s celebrates the contribution young people make to our parish. We thank them sincerely for sharing their giftedness with us and we seek to support our youth as they grow in faith.

Our Lady of Mercy Primary School and Mercy Secondary College, along with Summerhill College welcome in a special way their links with St Anne’s parish, and for this we thank the school principals, teachers, staffs and Boards of Management.

Diocesan Youth, Santiago de Compestela, Camino.

Altar servers

Altar Servers are always welcome with the support and participation of their parents / guardians. They are usually recruited through the schools and the monthly rota is arranged to fit in with the wishes of families as best we can.

Youth Readers

We also have a number of youth who proclaim the Word of God at our weekend Masses. If you would like to share in the Ministry of the Word by reading, please contact the Parish Office.

Confirmation Faith Friends

For several years now, St Anne’s parish has had a most successful Faith Friends Programme, in which some of the Transition Year students in Mercy College after a short training undertake

to share with the Confirmation Classes what their own Confirmation has meant for themselves so as to inspire them to Christian living. Bishop Kevin was greatly impressed by their ministry at last year’s Confirmation.
